Information about the town Écija is a small town located between Sevilla and Cordoba and has a population of around 40,000 people. It is known as the frying pan of Andalucía because it is the hottest town in Spain!

There are plenty opportunities for language exchanges with adults in the town. Once you get to know the students and families in Astigi better, there are also great opportunities for private English classes where you can make extra money.

There are trails around town that are good for walking and hiking. There are also multiple gyms in the area and 2 crossfit gyms as well.

Getting to school Écija is great because it is walkable everywhere! To get to school you will always be within walking distance.
Accommodation I highly recommend waiting until you are in Écija to find a place to live. That way, you can tour the apartment to see it in person, discuss price and see if it is a good distance from your school.

When you arrive, look on these websites for apartments.

www.idealista.com

www.milanuncios.com

Temporary housing options while looking for housing:

–          Airbnb

–          Hotel Platería (right in the centro)

Price is important to keep in mind because some landlords may try to raise the price simply because you are not from the area.

Some additional things to keep in mind:

–          Try to find other auxes to live with by asking your coordinators if they know of any others that have arrived. You can also search the Facebook group and reddit for forums of auxes that have moved to the town.

–          You should not be paying over 300 euros per month in Écija. It is very cheap to live here compared to the United States and also the rest of Spain. Sharing a flat with another aux could mean you pay as low as 150 euros per month! With a stipend of 700 euros, budgeting is key.

–          Use your resources!! Talk to your teachers and coordinator when you arrive and tell them you need an affordable place to stay. A lot of apartments are word of mouth in the small town. If you need advice about housing, pricing and negotiating, you are doing yourself a disservice if you do not talk with your coworkers.
