I’m from
Australia and come from a small town called Portarlington. I’ve been living in Villanueva de
Córdoba since December with my partner and it has been wonderful. From the moment we
arrived, we felt welcomed by the community and knew we would enjoy living in Spain.
One of my highlights has been getting to know the students. I love when they ask me how to
say words in English and when they practise their English with me. I have also enjoyed learning
about Spanish culture with the students, for example, eating tostadas on Dia de Andalucía,
going to the theatre and on excursions.
The school community is incredibly welcoming and friendly, we feel very lucky to have been a
part of it.
We’ve also loved exploring the town, going to local football games, hiking, and trying different
restaurants in town (including caracoles, which you definitely can’t find in Australia!).
This program has given me the opportunity to improve my Spanish, learn about your culture and
traditions, and travel throughout Spain, particularly in Andalucía.
