Even though, the conditions of the population in the rural areas of Andalusia and a great part of Spain have been historically very hard. The most renamed poets, as Antonio Machado, F.G. Lorca or Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez wrote expressive poems describing the situation of the \u201cjornaleros\u201d or temporary peasants, and other thinkers, politicians and philosophers, as the founder of the Andalusian national movement, Blas de Infante, who wrote the hymn of Andalusia, had an important commitment with the andalusian farmer\u2019s context. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">Most descriptions of Andalusia begin with the <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#0000ff\"><u><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Landownership\"><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">landownership<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"> system, as the most powerful forces in the region have for centuries been the owners of the large estates, called <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#0000ff\"><u><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Latifundios\"><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i>latifundios<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">. These wide expanses of land have their origin in grants of land made to the <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#0000ff\"><u><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nobility\"><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">nobility<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">, to the military orders, and to the church during the Reconquest (<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#0000ff\"><u><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Reconquista\"><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i>Reconquista<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">); and in laws of the nineteenth century by which church and common lands were sold in large <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#0000ff\"><u><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lot_%28real_estate%29\"><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">tracts<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"> to the urban <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#0000ff\"><u><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Middle_class\"><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">middle class<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">. The workers of this land, called <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#0000ff\"><u><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Jornaleros&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\"><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i>jornaleros<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">, were themselves landless. They had nothing: no land, no money, no future. Somedays, if they were lucky, they worked and could earn some money. Other days they hadn\u00b4t any job and, thus, nothing to eat.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">This economic and cultural system produced a distinctive perspective, involving <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#0000ff\"><u><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Class_consciousness\"><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">class consciousness<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"> and <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#0000ff\"><u><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Class_conflict\"><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">class conflicts<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"> as well as significant <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#0000ff\"><u><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Emigration\"><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">emigration<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">. In contrast to the much smaller farm towns and villages of northern Spain, where the land was worked by its owners, class distinctions in the agro-towns of Andalusia stood out. The families of the landless farmers lived at the <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#0000ff\"><u><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Poverty\"><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">poverty<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"> level, and their relations with the landed gentry were marked by conflict, aggression, and <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#0000ff\"><u><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hostility\"><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">hostility<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">. Most of the land was property of the andalusian aristocracy, who possessed large amounts of land, and, in most cases, did not even want to cultivate them. Millions of Spaniards had been living in more or less absolute poverty under the firm control of the aristocratic landowner.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">Since the 20<\/span><\/span><\/span><sup><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">th<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"> Century the workers\u2019 movement spread out. The Anarchist movement, which aims the communal property of the land flourished among the andalusian farmers. The Second Spanish Republic tried to execute a land reform, in order to distribute land among the workers. These reforms, along with <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#0000ff\"><u><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Anticlericalism\"><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">anticlericalist<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"> acts, created strong opposition. The victory of the National Army, commanded by Franco, who supported the landowners, spoilt this project.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-GB\"><span style=\"font-family:Liberation Serif, serif\"><span style=\"font-size:large\">The growing economic and social, although dispersed and not homogeneous in the region, fundamentally start in the years seventy coinciding with the arrival of the Democracy, and it will be intensified by the strong increment of the agroindustrial, tourist sector and of services. In 1981 the Statute of Autonomy is approved, after the Andalusian movement of autonomy. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Explain why the conditions of andalusian farmers without land were so hard.<\/li>\n<li>Who were the owners of most of the lands in Andalusia.
