Bélgica 2015

OUR TRIP TO BELGIUM

Last week, 10 students and 4 teachers of Ategua Secondary School went to Belgium to get information about the European Parliament because we’re taking part in a musical project about the formation of the European Union.

On Tuesday, we took the bus at 05.00 am in Llano de la Fuente. Then, we went to Carteya to pick up a classmate and two hours and a half later, we arrived at the airport. We took the plane to Charleroi at 09.15 am and we arrived in Brussels at 12.05 pm. We took a taxi to our flats that were in the center of Brussels and there we checked-in and took the train to Antwerp. In Antwerp, we went sight-seeing, visiting some squares, castles and also one of the most important ports of Europe. At night, we returned to Brussels and we had dinner in our flats.

On Wednesday, at 08.15 am, we left to the European Quarter and we had a guided tour of the Parliament. Later, we visited the music Museum and we loved it because there only were old instruments. At 11.30 am, we returned to the city center and we met the German group of Mönchengladbach. We visited the city all together and we went to the Atomium, a huge atom where from the top, you can see an amazing view of Brussels. At night, we went to an Italian restaurant with the German group and we were speaking and practising English with them. We had a good time together.

On Thursday morning, we visited the Parlamentarium with the German group. It’s a place where you can find all the information about the European Parliament and the history of the European Union. Later, while the German group was visiting the Parliament, we visited some parks of Brussels and also the Justice Palace and the Cathedral. Then, we had lunch at a bar and we ate a kind of sandwich there with hamburguer, salad, cheese and chips, called ‘metralleta’, that is typical in Brussels. Later, we went to our flats to rest because we were very tired and in the evening, we went to visit the city with Mª Jesús, who was teaching at our school a few years ago. But, before that, we said goodbye to the German group who had to return to Germany. Then, we continued the visit. We visited The Grand Place, a huge and amazing square, the Manneken Pis, a little statue of a boy peeing, the Jeanneke Pis, the same as the Manneken Pis but in girl, and finally, we went shopping. At night, we bought food to have dinner and we returned ton our flat.

On Friday, we went to Ghent and Brugge, two very beautiful cities that I recomend everybody to visit. First, we visited Ghent, the canals, the squares and the castle and we loved all so much. We went for a walk along the street and took photos everywhere. When we finished eating, we took the train to Brugges. When we arrived, we right away fell in love with that city. Its houses and the streets are so peculiar and beautiful. We didn’t have time enough to see all the canals that we had expected to see, but even so, we loved the tour. In Brugges, we visited a church, some amazing squares and we were walking along streets. When we finished seeing everything, the teachers gave us free time and me and two friends more were having a hot chocolate and taking a lots of photos in one of the prettiest squares I’ve ever been, Grote Markt. At night, we returned to Brussels and we had dinner in our flats.

The next day we had to return to Spain.

On Saturday, we left the flats at 09.00 am. We took the taxi to the airport and we took the plane at 12.30 pm. When we arrived in Málaga at 05.00 pm, we took the bus to Castro and we arrived at 06.00 pm.

We’ll never forget the experience!!!!!!
