A bit of history…\ud83e\udd13\ud83e\udd13:<\/p>\n

A great number of people consider Halloween<\/strong> to be an American holiday. In reality, it originates from the Celts<\/strong> of Ireland \ud83c\udf40. These days, people do not do what the old Celts did in the past, they do not have a big meal before the winter starts and do not leave their houses cold, without light during the night, hoping to stop spirits wanting to live there \ud83d\udc7b\ud83d\udc80. It was believed that the souls of dead people could come back if they find a person to stay in. Nevertheless, wearing scary masks and costumes to make the spirits go away, is an old Celtic tradition.<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Today, people and especially children, enjoy Halloween costume parties. They dress up as witches \ud83e\uddd9, vampires \ud83e\udddb and ghosts \ud83d\udc7b. Children in masks go from house to house and when the door opens, they say: \u00abTrick or treat!\u00bb If they do not get sweets \ud83c\udf6d\ud83c\udf6c, they do something bad like throwing eggs at the house \ud83d\ude08. The classic symbols of Halloween are horror characters: black cats, spiders \ud83d\udd77, witches \ud83e\uddd9, ghosts \ud83d\udc7b and big orange pumpkins \ud83c\udf83. Great Britain and the USA celebrate Halloween every year on the last day of October.<\/em><\/p>\n

These days, we are preparing our school fot the celebration of Halloween<\/strong>, on October 31 st. We have decorated the school with spiderwebs \ud83d\udd78<\/span>, posters\ud83e\udea7<\/span>, pumpkins \ud83c\udf83<\/em>… for the different activities<\/strong> that are going to be carried out. <\/span><\/p>\n

One of these activities is a Escape Room<\/strong>!! Our students for 1st, 2nd and 3rd ESO are going to participare in Escape Rooms of their bilingual subjects. For 2 weeks, they will solve mysteries in groups \ud83d\udd75, testing their abilities. <\/span><\/p>\n

For the different subjects, including English, we will work with some interesting facts about this Celtic tradition, and the students will collaborate in groups to solve the riddles \ud83e\udde9. Our language assitant Laura will help them! \ud83d\udc69\u200d\ud83c\udfeb<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
