Posee una forma distintiva, con variedades que presentan un h\u00e1bito de crecimiento columnar muy estrecho y otras m\u00e1s extendidas. Las hojas son peque\u00f1as y escamosas, de color verde oscuro. Los conos son peque\u00f1os, de 2 a 3 cm de di\u00e1metro, redondos y le\u00f1osos, tardando en madurar aproximadamente dos a\u00f1os.
