Two teachers from the school, Rocío Sevilla and Virginia de Vayas, participated in a Teacher Training mobility that allowed them to enjoy a highly enriching experience in the Irish capital. During their stay, they had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the Irish culture while also undergoing a fruitful update of their teaching practices through training at Atlas Language School, a language center located in Portobello House, Dublin.

The course, “Methodology, Language and Culture,” provided them with a theoretical and practical approach to new methodologies in foreign language teaching, with a special emphasis on inclusion. During the course, they shared the different educational perspectives and realities of the various countries represented in the program (mainly Poland, Romania, Germany, Slovenia, and Spain). The interaction with teachers from these countries allowed them to learn about aspects of their different educational systems, exchange ideas, and share their own teaching experiences.

In addition to the training, Atlas offered all the participants a fantastic Social Program, which allowed our colleagues to learn more about Dublin’s incredible history and Irish culture. This program included guided tours around the city’s main monuments and places of interest (such as Trinity College, the Museum of Literature, the Book of Kells, and St. Stephen’s Green Park), as well as other visits in which the participants enjoyed the beautiful Irish landscape of coastal villages around Dublin.

There was also time to enjoy Irish folklore; one of the most notable activities was the visit to the Gaiety Theatre to enjoy the popular Irish dance show “Riverdance,” a magical and unforgettable performance. Additionally, they visited historical and emblematic places in the city center, such as St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the Dublinia History Museum, the famous Molly Malone statue, and the renowned Temple Bar, where live music is the best representation of the Irish spirit.

Undoubtedly, the best part of the experience was being able to enjoy the friendly and welcoming nature of the Dubliners, which became evident in all the activities our teachers took part in. As one friendly Dubliner commented, “In Ireland, no one is a foreigner.” A truly recommendable experience.

From here, we would like to express our gratitude to the Erasmus+ Program for allowing us to live a unique and highly enriching experience. True to the program’s motto, “enriching lives, opening minds,” we will strive to ensure that everything we have learned and experienced is reflected in an improvement of our teaching practices, as well as in the establishment of new connections with colleagues from other educational institutions, who we hope to stay in touch with to carry out future mobility programs.

ngg_shortcode_0_placeholder

Acercándonos a la cultura Irlandesa – Vivir y Sentir Dublín Este pasado mes de agosto el IES Odiel organizó una movilidad Eramus+ en Dublín, Irlanda.
