That is why here we explain a little more about this curious celebration.

According to the legends, which have passed for centuries and centuries from father to son, leprechauns inhabited the island of Ireland. They are small beings dressed in green, with a large hat, red hair and a beard of the same color.

Leprechauns make or fix shoes, and are said to be very rich, but also greedy. Their fortune comes from the fact that they guard many black clay pots full of treasures, which were buried during periods of war and which no one except them ever recovered. According to legend, if someone manages to fix his gaze on a leprechaun, he cannot escape and has to give him his treasures, but the moment the gaze is removed, it disappears. Leprechauns are not very sociable, especially when they believe their treasures are in danger. It is not clear where exactly the goblins live now. Some people believe they only live in Ireland, however many people have reported seeing leprechauns all over the world. They most likely live in secret enchanted forests all over the planet. They are known to travel on rainbows.

In fact, if you see a rainbow, then you know there is a leprechaun nearby.🍀

Click on the Leprechaun to see some teaching resources used in our classrooms.
