There is<\/em> y there are<\/em> se utilizan para decir que hay<\/strong> algo en presente (there is a cake in the fridge \u2013 hay una tarta en la nevera<\/em>), por lo tanto, la forma en pasado de este verbo significa hab\u00eda<\/strong> (there was a cake in the fridge \u2013 hab\u00eda una tarta en la nevera<\/em>).<\/p>\n

Cuando se necesita hablar del pasado en ingl\u00e9s, la forma principal que toma el verbo es el pasado simple (simple past<\/em>). En pasado simple, el verbo to be<\/em> se escribe de dos maneras diferentes, \u00e9stas son \u00abwas<\/em>\u00bb y \u00abwere<\/em>\u00bb.
