A day in the life of a language assistant in Seville
My day starts pretty early. I wake up different time depending on when my classes start. Some days when classes start at 9:20a.m., I wake up at 7a.m., however, when classes start at 8:20a.m., I wake up at 6a.m. I shower, get ready and make sure I have all my essentials for the day. I commute to work; this means I take the bus to get to the train station and then a train to Los Rosales and walk towards school.
During school, most of my time is spent assisting the teacher with activities. My core subjects are PE and Biology, so I’ve been creating Biology based activities in English, such as Bingo, crosswords and wordsearches but as well I’ve been helping the pupils improve their English pronunciation. On the other hand, in PE, I’ve helped the pupils memorise the warmup in English and right now, I’m getting to know their English levels by doing personalised interviews asking them to describe a bit about themselves.
After school, I commute back home. As soon as I get home, I sit down and have a little snack. Then, I log all my activities of the day into a diary led by the school. If I have any work to mark, such as the personalised interviews, I get that done as soon as I can. After I’ve finished all my tasks, I like to unwind by going into town for a walk. It’s a nice way to clear my mind and enjoy the scenery. I like to get home around sunset so I can make dinner, relax and recharge before getting ready for another busy day ahead.
