REMEMBER: Choose one question in the test and write a comment with your answer to that question as in the example below. If you want to choose another question, write another comment (one question/one comment). Once all the questions have been answered, I will reply to each comment.
e.g. 2. I wish could do that
Sentence 9. If only I’d had more money with me yesterday! Well, it sounds like a regret and it is something that we can not change…. so, from my view, the wish/if only sentence is: wish/if only + past perfect.
Sentence 10. I wish you’d stop doing that!. I deem that is the correct answer, due to the fact that when someone does something that annoys you, the wish sentence is: Wish + would + verb infinitive.
I cross my fingers!!
Right answers! Good job!
Sentence 8: I wish I could go to your party. This sentence responds to the structure «I wish / could», that refers to present things that we want to be different.
Right! Remember present or future things that we would like to be different!
Well done!
Sentence 3: I’m sorry I made you angry. I wish I hadn’t shouted at you.
I deem that is correct.
Sentence 6: He’s really handsome! If only I would be ten years younger!
I consider that it’s the only incorrect way. It would be better if you write was or were, instead of would be.
Hello Rafi,
Thanks for your answers! In sentence 3, your option «hadn´t» is correct and in sentence 6 your option «would be» is also correct! Good job!
Regards,
Pilar
1- I wish I could come to the zoo with you….
(to talk about things you would like to be different in the present…)
2-I wish I could do that .(The subject is missing)
4- I wish I were going to the beach with my friends! ( to express the fact that you would like to change things in the future or present) wish + past
5- If only he would be quiet! (when you want people to behave differently). If only+subject + would + bare infinitive
7 If only this computer were working!(the same case as in exercise 4 )
Hello!
Your answers are all right! Nevertheless, just a few comments on your answers. The answer to number 2 is «I wish could do that», you just gave the correction, not the option in the test. Apart from that, the precise explanation to justify the right options for number 4 and 7 is the following: «to wish that something was happening at the moment».

Pilar
