Hello,
Have a look at the document below in order to learn new advanced terms for some vocabulary you tend to use.
Expanding your vocabulary
Good morning. I am taking a look of this useful vocabulary and until now I have had a doubt – «be at a bit of a loose end»: instead of this expresion, I found this one: «be at a loose end». I couldn’t find yours.
Tomorrow I will continue cheking the rest.
Good morning! You can´t find the expression «be at a bit of a loose end» as such since «a bit of» is optional. «A bit of» is just an optional element modifying «loose end».
How are you keeping? Is this also suitable for advaced level?
I thought that huge is more than big? BIG: grande HUGE: ENORME SO We can’t replace big with huge. Is it right?
Hi Elena, As for «how are you keeping?», it is a good alternative for «how are you?». For a native speaker that expression could be basic, for us it could be advanced as we are never introduced to greetings like that at basic levels.
Regarding «huge» and «big» , they are related to each other. To be exact, «huge» would be a perfect synonym for «very big». Yet I would use «huge» rather than «big». For instance, I would say «I am not a huge fan of…» rather than «I am not a big fan of…».
