Past ContinuousForm:  The past continuous is formed with the verb TO BE in past (was/were) followed by a verb ending in -ING.  Example: She was washing the dishes.

Past ContinuousUse: Past continuous tense is used to express actions which were happening at a specific time in the past.
Example: She was washing te dishes at 4 o’clock.

Past Continuoustime expressions: yesterday, last night, a week ago, two hours ago, at 4 o’clock
Example: They were watching TV last night.
