Alfarnate

LIVING IN ALFARNATE
I live in a house in the countryside near Alfarnate. Alfarnate is a small village of Malaga and it has a population of about 1200 inhabitants. Alfarnate is part of the Axarquía area.
Alfarnate is the highest village in Málaga. It is 900 metres above sea level and it is surrounded by mountains. In its center there is a valley. In this valley we farm the famous cherries, so people call it “El valle del Jerte Malagueño” and every June we celebrate “El día de la cereza” (cherry day). The most important historic buildings are the church of Santa Ana, the town hall and the hermitage. We have a beautiful natural setting with a lot of walking routes.
The  weather in winter is cold. We can see snow in winter, and the summer has warm days and cool nights and it is dry.  Spring and autumn are usually rainy.
Alfarnate is famous for its cherries, its weather and the “Moros y Cristianos” festivity. People visit us for our walking routes and local food like the roscos carreros.
What I like best about Alfarnate is the weather, because I hate hot nights in the summer. In this place you can sleep all night without air conditioning and I like enjoying its quiet life and clean air.
