My dear students,
As you already know, the Zero, the First and the Second conditionals are used for giving advice to somebody. For example, «If you need this pen, take it!» (zero conditional), «If you study a lot, you’ll pass your exams» (first conditional) and «If I were you, I’d buy the light green T-shirt you saw yesterday» (second conditional).
Now it’s the time for the Third Conditional, although we never use it for giving advice, but for expressing remorse or regret; for instance, « If I’d known that Mary was coming to the party, I wouldn’t have accepted the invitation.» (third conditional)
