Creepy Greetings!!
. I have started my last day at XIII Liceum Ogólnoksztalcace, with a spooky and enriching Scape Room activity in an English class:
Halloween Scape Room: Teacher met me at the front door of the classroom, students awaited for us outside too. Teacher explained to them that there was a witch who had cursed people, they had to escape from her curse. Then we all went into a darkish classroom with orange pumpkin curtains down. There were 13 students, since English classes were divided into graded groups, in this case B1 level and age between 15-16. They were divided into 4 groups, as I mentioned before the main topic was Halloween, they all had the same “curse” (see pictures) and they had to find out how to leave the room, following some leads, clues, using English as vehicular language. I could see closely the material: texts divided into parts that they had to built it up, QR code in pieces that needed to be read to continue… Sometimes students required moving through the classroom to look for the next clue, as you can see in the picture, students were looking under the teacher’s desk!!😁. Students worked in silence, they used English most of the time, they are highly motivated creating a great atmosphere for learning through “games”. They worked efficiently the four main skill of English: oral, reading, listening and vocabulary. I just loved it!!
English class: with Jacek and a group of 8 students between 17-18. Teacher divided the class into two groups to discuss the 
topic: Desert Island. They had to use English to decide which 7 items of a provided list they would take with them to that remote island. They first worked in small groups and later in big group (the whole class). I could see how in Poland, English teachers are so engaged with the oral skills, which at the end of day it was is matters.
History class x2: my visit to the Lyceum finished the best way I could image, with 2 History classes!!😁. Firstly with a group between 15-16, our equivalent to 3º ESO. In this level the curriculum starts from the end of the medieval age and the whole modern age to finish with French Revolution and Napoleon regime. In this big class, teacher used the tv to present the content, outlines that students copied when was needed. They were revising the reformation and counterreformation, and a map of Poland is shown to give visual support. They also had time for a text, which was read by the teacher and put ideas in common orally. At the end of the class some pictures with religious building of the different religious branches were shown while they made a summary of what did learn that day. Second hour, with the same teacher but different subject, now History & Present, and distinct level. We went to the class of the youngest (between 14-15 years old). Teacher explained me that last week the class was divided into 2 groups whit the task of looking for information, reasons and arguments that supported or opposed the United Nation and its labor. They were putting in practice Debate skills!!. They talked respectfully, while the teacher gave turns and he took notes about students’ mediation. I liked the way teachers used spaces in their classes, in that case, desks were in a row facing each other, to get eye contact easily within them. Teacher encouraged students who avoided talking in public, while others were so talkative and motivated.
I left the Liceo after a meeting with the Principal and the Deputy Principal, as a review activity to close our job-shadowing, both were extremely kind and helpful (we even hugged) that I would like to see them in Spain someday, if they don’t visit us, I am forced to come to Krakow again😁😉😆.
¡¡¡Saludos espeluznantes!!! He comenzado mi último día en el XIII Liceum Ogólnoksztalcace, con una aterradora y enriquecedora actividad de Scape Room en una clase de inglés:
Halloween Scape Room: La profesora me recibió en la puerta del aula, los alumnos nos esperaban también fuera. La profesora les explicó que había una bruja que había maldecido a la gente y que tenían que escapar de su maldición. Luego entramos todos en un aula oscura con cortinas de calabaza naranja. Había 13 alumnos, ya que las clases de inglés se dividían en grupos graduados, en este caso de nivel B1 y con edades comprendidas entre los 15 y 16 años. Estaban divididos en 4 grupos, como he comentado antes el tema principal era Halloween, todos tenían la misma «maldición» (ver fotos) y tenían que averiguar cómo salir de la habitación, siguiendo unas pistas, indicios, utilizando el inglés como lengua vehicular. Pude ver de cerca el material: textos divididos en partes que tenían que construir, código QR en trozos que había que leer para continuar… A veces los alumnos requerían moverse por el aula para buscar la siguiente pista, como se puede ver en la foto, ¡los alumnos buscaban debajo de la mesa del profesor!!😁. Los alumnos trabajaron en silencio, utilizaron el inglés la mayor parte del tiempo, están muy motivados creando un gran ambiente de aprendizaje a través de «juegos». Trabajaron eficazmente las cuatro habilidades principales del inglés: oral, lectura, escucha y vocabulario. ¡¡¡Me encantó!!!
Clase de inglés: con Jacek y un grupo de 8 alumnos de entre 17 y 18 años. El profesor dividió la clase en dos grupos para discutir el tema: La isla desértica. Tenían que utilizar el inglés para decidir qué 7 artículos de una lista proporcionada se llevarían a esa isla remota. Primero trabajaron en pequeños grupos y después en gran grupo (toda la clase). Pude ver como en Polonia, los profesores de inglés están tan comprometidos con las habilidades orales, que al final del día es lo que importa.
Clase de Historia x2: mi visita al Liceo terminó de la mejor manera que podía imaginar, con 2 clases de Historia!!!😁. Primero con un grupo de entre 15-16 años, nuestro equivalente a 3º ESO. En este nivel el temario comienza desde el final de la edad medieval y toda la edad moderna para terminar con la Revolución Francesa y el régimen de Napoleón. En esta gran clase, el profesor utilizaba la televisión para presentar los contenidos, esquemas que los alumnos copiaban cuando era necesario. Revisaron la reforma y la contrarreforma, y se mostró un mapa de Polonia para dar apoyo visual. También tuvieron tiempo para un texto, que fue leído por el profesor y pusieron ideas en común de forma oral. Al final de la clase se mostraron unas imágenes con edificios religiosos de las diferentes ramas religiosas mientras hacían un resumen de lo aprendido ese día. Segunda hora, con el mismo profesor pero diferente materia, ahora Historia y Actualidad, y distinto nivel. Fuimos a la clase de los más pequeños (entre 14-15 años). El profesor me explicó que la semana pasada la clase se dividió en 2 grupos con la tarea de buscar información, razones y argumentos que apoyaran o se opusieran a las Naciones Unidas y su labor. Estaban poniendo en práctica las habilidades de debate. Hablaron con respeto, mientras el profesor daba turnos y tomaba notas sobre la mediación de los alumnos. Me gustó la forma en que los profesores utilizaban los espacios en sus clases, en ese caso, los pupitres estaban en fila uno frente al otro, para conseguir fácilmente el contacto visual entre ellos. El profesor animaba a los alumnos que evitaban hablar en público, mientras que otros se mostraban muy habladores y motivados. Salí del Liceo después de una reunión con la directora y el subdirectora, como actividad de repaso para cerrar nuestro job- shadowing, ambas fueron tan amables y serviciales (incluso nos abrazamos) que me gustaría verlas en España algún día, si no nos visitan, me veo obligada a tener que venir yo de nuevo a Cracovia😁😉😆
