Día 2: Primer día en el instituto.
Tras tomar un bus que me lleve a la ciudad (de cuyo nombre nunca puedo acordarme), me dio tiempo a dar un breve paseo por las calles de la ciudad, tomar un café calentito y posteriormente llegar al instituto Adolf-Schmitthenner-Gymnasium; este último término hace referencia a que es un instituto de grado medio (cursos 5 a 13). Cabe mencionar que a pesar de ser una ciudad de poco más de 4000 habitantes, el instituto es un centro muy grande, con más de 1000 alumnos y alumnas y más de 100 profesores y profesoras. Similar al nuestro en cuanto a que es un instituto “rural”, recibiendo alumnado de varias localidades cercanas, de un radio de 20 km.
Tras un pequeño reconocimiento de las zonas del instituto, sobre las 11am me recibió la Coordinadora Erasmus, María Pía, profesora de Italiano. Una mujer encantadora y de origen latino, pero que muy jovencita se afincó en Alemania. Unas breves palabras (en inglés) y presentaciones con más profesores y profesoras del instituto, Pía me ha invitado a una de sus clases de italiano, con el grado 13 (alumnado de 18 años), el último curso previo de acceso a la universidad. Es increíble cómo en tan sólo 4 años de clases de italiano, sus alumnos son capaces de hablar casi a la perfección. He tenido la oportunidad de presenciar actividades orales y parece ser la dinámica y la metodología de Pía en sus sesoines. Sorprendentemente… ¡nadie usó el alemán! Y tuve también la oportunidad de participar en su clase y poder hablar con los alumnos (yo en español y ellos en italiano).
Tras la sesión de 1h30 de italiano, Pía me ha enseñado el resto de aulas y departamentos del instituto, y hemos podido comer en el comedor. Posteriormente hemos podido trabajar un poco más en cómo será el desarrollo de mi estancia y varias visitas obligadas de interés turístico.
Tras ello, Pía me acercó a mi hotel. Pude dar un breve paseo por la ciudad de Waibstadt antes de ponerme nuevamente a trabajar en tareas pendientes y en mi alumnado en España.
Sin duda, un día tranquilo pero con intensas emociones. Muchos días por disfrutar y seguir aprendiendo, porque lo mejor, está aún por llegar.
Day 2: First day at a German school
After taking a bus that takes me to the city (whose name I can never recall), I had time to take a brief walk through the streets of the city, have a warm coffee and later arrive at the Adolf-Schmitthenner-Gymnasium; This last term refers to the fact that it is a middle school (grades 5 to 13). It is worth mentioning that despite being a city with just over 4,000 inhabitants, the school is a very large center, with more than a thousand students and more than 100 teachers. Similar to ours in that it is a «rural» school, receiving students from various nearby towns, within a radius of 20 km.
After a little reconnaissance of the school areas, around 11am I was received by the Erasmus Coordinator, María Pía, an Italian teacher. A charming woman of Latin origins, but who settled down in Germany at a very young age. After a few words and greetings with more teachers from the school, I was invited to one of Pia’s Italian lessons, with grade 13 (students aged 18), the last year prior to entering the university. It’s amazing how in just 4 years of Italian lessons, her students are able to speak almost perfectly. I have had the opportunity to witness oral activities and it seems to be the dynamics of Pía’s methodology. Surprisingly… no one used German to speak to! And I had the chance to participate in their class and to be able to speak with the students (me in Spanish and they in Italian).
After the 1h30 Italian lesson, Pía has shown me the rest of the classrooms and departments of the school, and we have been able to have lunch in the scholar dining room. Later we have been able to work a little more on how the development of my stay will be and several mandatory visits of tourist interest.
After that, Pía drop me off to my hotel. I was able to take a brief walk through the city of Waibstadt before going back to work on pending tasks and my students in Spain.
Undoubtedly, a quiet day but with intense emotions. Many days to enjoy and continue learning, because the best is yet to come.
