Tradition and innovation come together at IES Nuestra Señora de la Cabeza. This allows us to draw upon the wealth of experience of a school that has educated generations since 1961, while simultaneously adapting to changes in the education system. IES Nuestra Señora de la Cabeza in Andújar is a public school under the authority of the Andalusian Regional Government’s Department of Education. It is located in the city center, in an area with excellent transport links and easy access.
During the 2021–2022 academic year, the school will mark its 60th anniversary. It has been a key pillar in the development of Andújar and the surrounding region; the opportunity to study locally enabled many young people to pursue university education, thereby raising the city’s cultural level and opening up new future prospects for many of its residents.
The school remains committed to the community of Andújar and the surrounding area, collaborating on numerous City Council activities as well as with various companies and organizations of public interest. This commitment is evident in the many generations educated here who now serve as role models and agents of social transformation.
Our building was constructed in 1961 and designed by the renowned architect Miguel Fisac Serna—winner of the 2003 National Architecture Award. Consequently, it is currently a protected building, listed as an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) by the Andalusian Historical Heritage Institute. The building consists of two floors distributed across four blocks arranged in a Y-shape, connected by the lobby.
Over time, the building has been adapted, expanded, and updated with new spaces, resources, and technologies.
