The Department of Biology and Geology of the IES Campos de Níjar has organized the “BIO-DEPENDENCE” activity throughout the month of February to celebrate Andalusia Day.

The students of 3rd and 4th ESO as well as 1st and 2nd of Baccalaureate have visited the exhibition, given by the group Ecologistas en Acción, in which they have reflected on the importance of biodiversity, valuing the goods and services it offers, such as food, decrease in global warming, medicinal use, water purification…. As well as the current problem of loss of biodiversity caused by climate change, the destruction of habitats, pollution, among others, which is causing the loss of species in an alarming way.

In addition, the 1st and 2nd ESO students have carried out this activity with the collaboration of the 1st and 2nd year Baccalaureate students, who have explained the different panels in small groups. They have carried out an important task of raising awareness among the youngest before this global problem, reflecting on the dependence of biodiversity for our survival, as well as the need for its care and conservation. This collaboration between groups of different levels has been valued very positively by students and teachers.
