ESEP (European School Education Platform)
European School Education Platform
Launched in 2022, the European School Education Platform is the meeting point for all stakeholders in the school education sector – school staff, researchers, policymakers, and other professionals – spanning every level from early childhood education and care to primary and secondary school, including initial vocational education and training. The platform is also home to eTwinning, the community for schools in Europe.
This online multilingual platform is free of charge for all users. Here you can:
- Stay informed with new content published every week, including opinion pieces by experts, news articles, interviews, current news, and examples of practices.
- Find resources such as reports from recent research, teaching materials created in European projects and training courses, and the European Toolkit for Schools with material on preventing early school leaving and a self-assessment tool to help you develop your own school activities.
- Get familiar with funding through the Erasmus+ opportunities, consisting of three practical tools (course catalogue, mobility opportunities directory, and strategic partnership search) to help schools prepare their Erasmus+ applications.
- Develop yourself with the professional development opportunities such as free online courses, webinars, and teaching materials in collaboration with the EU Academy.
- Interact, collaborate, and develop projects with other verified school staff in Europe in the eTwinning community.
The European School Education Platform and the eTwinning community are possible thanks to funding from Erasmus+, the European programme for education, training, youth and sport. They are initiatives by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport, and Culture. It is operated by European Schoolnet (coordination, content, and services) and Tremend Software Consulting SRL (technical infrastructure) under service contracts with the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA).
Training course: «ENCUENTRO DIDÁCTICO NACIONAL 2023: Transformación Digital»
Learning Journal:
I’m starting another training course on what is called educational digital transformation… This time in the hope that by looking beyond my region, I will better understand what we want to achieve and get some extra motivation. And above all, to see what the ESEP platform offers us, which at first seems very interesting. I think that using the same tool for the whole of Europe, where a student from my town can contact another from any town in Europe directly, as they do with any mobile application, but under the public administration and from Europe… Brave!!!
First, the typical, a bit of contact with Computer Science and the Internet… a forum, a wall with commented images and a videoconference with colleagues sharing their experiences. From what co-workers from different and distant regions say, I am surprised by how similar the process is, the reaction of colleagues, even the plans and projects… This revolution in computer science applied to education causes a lot of concern for teachers. How much effort will we have to make to find the correct way to apply computer science in education so that students get some benefit compared to what existed before. I believe that the best case would be to know a lot about both sciences in a balanced way, computer science and education. And the worst case would be the maximum imbalance between knowledge, knowing a lot about education and little about computing or vice versa. I think that at the moment the direction that has been taken is not the correct one. Putting that tag «Digital» on a subject will not stop being that subject, but that tag will affect much more than just not using paper. Computer science knowledge must be acquired. I hope that in the end we arrive at the same place without taking much longer.
We continue with proprietary tools and so on. Apparently, to know the level and needs of teachers in terms of digital skills, there is a tool called SELFIE. Which is the same as what we do in Andalusia with the CDD test that is within the Seneca platform. And in all communities we do the PAD or PDC.
