Mediation sample

Hello, 

I would like to share with you some mediation tasks done in class. 

The mediation task was the following: 

As you already know, the important things to do in a mediation tasks are: 

-selecting relevant information according to what you are required in the instruction of the task

-paraphrasing using your own words and grammar structures without making mistakes affecting coherence

-writing no more than the maximum number of words you are required

-avoiding writing information which is not in the original text

Below are some mediation tasks for the mediation task above. Mistakes and corrections are in bold. 

SAMPLE 1 

Hi Paola: 

If you want to come here, you need to get a normal visa due to the fact that the (?) holiday visa doesn´t allow you to bring your children with you and your husband would need his own visa (?) ,  too. 

Moreover, (?)  holiday visa is only to stay for 12 months here. 

Please, ask  at the embassy about a visa for your needs  and let me know.

You must  apply for your working holiday visa online, and your partner has to apply for his own visa for bringing your children. > This information is not true because nobody can bring their children with them with this kind of visa. Apart from that, the idea  «you partner has to apply for his own visa for bringing your children» seems to be incoherent. He has to apply for his own visa to come to New Zealand. Finally, we would say «to bring your children», not «for bringing your children». [You can stay here (?) > for only 6 months and you must change your job every three months.] > […] irrelevant information that she doesn´t need to know as she doesn´t ask anything about that aspect.
