Los adverbios modifican a un verbo: siempre llega tarde, a un adjetivo: muy interesante, a otro adverbio: muy bien y su posición en la oración en inglés varía en función del tipo de adverbio del que se trate.
Frequency adverbs
- EXPRESAN la periodicidad de una acción: always, usually, often, sometimes, seldom, hardly ever, rarely, never
- SE COLOCAN – 1.- antes del verbo principal
Wendy often rides her bike. Do you always wake up at 7?
2.- La única excepción es con el verbo to be, el adverbio se coloca detrás.
Wendy is rarely without her bike.
- Utilizamos la fórmula «How often…?» para preguntar por la frecuencia con la que alguien hace algo.
- (OTRAS EXPRESIONES DE FRECUENCIA se colocan al final de la oración : every evening, once a week, twice a week … )

- EXPRESAN cuándo tiene lugar la acción del verbo: now, then, yesterday, today, daily, every week …
- SE COLOCAN – 1.- Al final de la oración, esta posición se considera neutral.
I will ride with Wendy tomorrow.
2.- encabezando la oración, de manera que es esta información la que se pone de relieve, siempre separados por un coma.
Tomorrow, I will ride with Wendy.

- SE COLOCAN – 1.- por norma general después del complemento directo :
Kate rode her bike quickly down the hill.
2.- directamente después del verbo principal cuando no hay complemento:
Wendy rode quickly down the hill.
He drove carefully. He drove slowly. He drove badly.
