INFORMATION ABOUT THE TOWN |
Palos de La Frontera is located in the southwest of the Iberian Peninsula. It is the most western province in Andalusia (Spain). It is bordering the south of Portugal, and located on the left bank of the Tinto River 4 km from its mouth in the Atlantic. It has a population of approximately 9,500 inhabitants, although this figure notably increases due to the immigrant population in the first semester of each year for the strawberry harvest. Regarding the economy, it should be noted that the product of special relevance is the “Freson de Palos”. In recent decades, this product has become the economic engine of the town, in which we rely on its direct, or indirect production. Palos de la Frontera is known worldwide as the cradle of the Discovery of America. Admiral Christopher Columbus, the Pinzon brothers, and the sailors from this region departed from its port on August 3, 1492, heading for the unknown and later discovered the American continent.
