Southend summary by Nicole Casnettie

This year’s exchange trip to Southend On Sea was nothing less than a complete success. A group of 4⁰ESO and 1⁰Bachillerato students from IES Albaida spent a fun-filled week of linguistic and cultural immersion, and thanks to our amazing hosts, the students enjoyed themselves to the fullest!

Our stay at the Ilfracombe Hotel was very comfortable and cozy. The students felt right at home and had all their needs attended to. The SHSG school students and teachers made the Albaida students feel very welcome, and they enjoyed spending time getting to know one another. Some of the Southend students accompanied us on day trips to Cambridge, where we visited the prestigious university, and of course to famous London, where we visited everything from Parliament to Buckingham Palace. We were in good company as we explored these historic destinations! We also did a day trip to Canterbury to see the famous cathedral and other ruins from the Norman era.

We are looking forward to returning the favor and hosting a group of students from Southend this coming autumn here in Almeria. We sincerely hope that they will have just as lovely an experience as we did as their guests in Southend!
