-READING PLAN : WEATHER FORECAST! HOW TO PREDICT THE WEATHER?

Welcome to the weather forecast. Now, let’s see what the weather is like today. In the north of Spain, it’s very windy and cold. In the afternoon it is raining and may be it will be storm, so don’t leave home without your umbrella! The temperature is around 5º degrees, it’s very cold! Please, take your jacket, your globes and your scarf.

 In the south it’s cloudy all day today. There may be a sunny in the afternoon. The temperature is a bit higher, at around 13º degrees. You can go to the park and play with your friends. In the west and middle of the country the weather is dry, but cloudy. So no rain for you, but it is quite windy and the temperature is just 10º.

THE ATMOSPHERE

ATMOSPHERE IS A LAYER THAT PROTECTS THE EARTH AND IT IS MADE UP OF GASES, SUCH US OXYGEN OR CARBON DIOXIDE. THE ATMOSPHERE HAS 5 DIFFERENT LAYERS, BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT ARE: 

• THE TROPOSPHERE: THIS LAYER IS THE MOST INTERNAL LAYER OF THE EARTH’S SURFACE. IT CONTAINS THE AIR (OXYGEN- CARBON DIOXIDE)THAT LIVING THINGS NEED TO SURVIVE. IT IS ALSO WHERE WEATHER TAKES PLACE AND WHERE MOST CLOUDS ARE LOCATED.

 

• THE STRATOSPHERE: THIS LAYER EXTENDS FOR THE NEXT 32 MILES AFTER THE TROPOSPHERE AND IT CONTAINS LESS AIR. THE OZONE LAYER IS SITUATED THERER. (ULTRAVIOLET RAYS).

 

• THE IONOSPHERE: THIS IS THE MOST EXTERNAL LAYER OF THE EARTH’S SURFACE. IT CONTAINS VERY LITTLE AIR. SATELLITESARE LOCATED IN THE IONOSPHERE AND SPACECRAFT.

WEATHER ELEMENTS

Weather is the condition of our atmosphere. It has four basic elements:

-Temperature is the amount of heat in the air.

EXAMPLE: 35ºC. (degrees).

– Wind is the movement of the air.

EXAMPLE: 45 KM/H.

–Humidity is the amount of water vapour in the air.

EXAMPLE: 50%.

– Precipitation is water in liquid or solid form that falls from the air to the ground.

EXAMPLE: 15MM
