THE THREE VITAL FUNCTIONS
We will learn the three vital functions of all living beings: nutrition, reproduction and interaction.
All living things need food, and this function is called Nutrition. Depending on what food they eat, animals may be herbivores, carnivores or omnivores.
All living things need to be aware of their environment so as to know what can occur around them and therefore be able to react accordingly. This function is known as the interaction.
The last function is Reproduction. This allows living beings to make new living beings, and thus ensuring life´s continuity. Animals have two ways of reproducing; they are either oviparous or viviparous.
Oviparous animals, like birds, turtles and crocodiles hatch from eggs and viviparous animals are born from their mother´s womb, such as dolphins, giraffes and human beings.
