        There are two schools in town, a primary and a secondary

        This is a small town, in the city size category it’s considered a pueblo, with a little over 4,000 residence

        ALMUÑECAR

        This is the large town in the area, with about 27,000 residents.

        There are major supermarkets, restaurants, mercados, and more options for shopping and entertainment here.

        La Herradura falls under the municipality of Almuñécar.

      • Things to do:

        Hiking on the many local seaside routes, including in the Paraje Natural de los Acantilados de Maro Cerro Gordo, a national park that runs along the coast from La Herradura to Maro

        The town is globally known for scuba diving

        Local holidays are extremely important and are a must.

  • Getting to school

    • Within La Herradura, there is no real need for public transportation because of its size. However, there is a single ALSA bus stop with buses to the other pueblos in the area, Almunecar, and larger cities like Nerja, Granada and Malaga. The two closest airports are Malaga’s AGP and Granada’s GRX both are reachable by bus, Blablacar or taxi.

    • If you choose to live in Almuñecar, you have 2 options for public transport to La Herradura: the local bus system or ALSA. – The Local Bus costs 1€ per ride and you can purchase an unlimited rides car. (https://urbanosalmunecar.es/lineas-urbanas-almunecar/la-herradura-linea-2-invierno/

      ALSA buses cost about 1.20€ to 1.30€ for a one-way trip between and come less frequently than the local bus

    • Apartments:

      There are plenty of apartments for rent for either the school year or year-round. This is a major tourist destination in the summer months so it tends to be more expensive from the months of May to September.
