El pasado 1 de octubre se incorporaron al cole nuestras asistentes lingüísticas de lengua inglesa, Olivia y Sabina, que colaborarán con el profesorado del centro en las áreas de inglés, conocimiento del medio y artística, desde infantil de 3 años hasta sexto de primaria, centrando sus esfuerzos, principalmente, en el intercambio cultural y la mejora de las destrezas orales del alumnado.
Desde el área de música, Laura organizó un espectáculo musical y de flamenco con el alumnado de quinto. Seguidamente, representantes de todos los grupos de primaria dieron una charla en inglés sobre nuestra provincia, hablando de personajes importantes, lugares de interés, gastronomía, pueblos y economía, destacando la importancia del cine y de la agricultura intensiva. A continuación, el coordinador bilingüe acompañó a Olivia y Sabina a visitar la exposición de Almería que se ha preparado en la recepción de nuestro colegio en colaboración con las familias y alumnado del cole y les habló de la artesanía tradicional (esparto, cerámica, telares…), el indalo, el parque natural de Cabo de Gata-Níjar, la Alcazaba, etc.
Más tarde visitaron el patio de infantil, donde fueron recibidas muy cariñosamente por sus maestras y alumnado y se les ofrecieron algunos obsequios y productos típicos de la zona.
Después fueron a las diferentes clases de primaria para conocer el resto de dependencias del centro, así como al profesorado y alumnado y, por último, pudieron disfrutar de un delicioso desayuno andaluz.

Hello everyone! My name is Olivia, I am 22 years old, and I’m so excited to be part of this amazing program. I’m originally from Toronto, Canada, and although this is my first year in this role, I’ve always loved learning about new cultures and trying new things. What excites me most about this opportunity is the chance to not only share my own culture but also to learn from the students. I believe this experience will be just as enriching for me as it is for them. I’m really looking forward to making meaningful connections and embracing all the exciting challenges and opportunities this year has to offer! Ultimately, I hope that I can make a difference in the students’ English education and make learning English something that they look forward to everyday!

Hello everyone! My name is Sabina Kielbasa and I’m a 22 year old girl from Ontario, Canada and this is my first year as a language assistant here in Almería, Spain. This program means a lot to me because I feel like I am truly learning and gaining so much knowledge and confidence through the process. I feel so welcomed, happy, and blessed to be with such incredible students who cherish my time here. I have to teach English to little children, creating an incredible learning experience that I will really benefit from in the future. It’s a unique opportunity for cultural exchange that many countries don’t offer, and I feel very honoured to be a part of it. I’m truly grateful to be here in Almería, which is filled with so many international students, nightlife, delicious food and stunning views. This is an unforgettable opportunity for both myself and the students.
