Celebramos St. Patrick’s Day en SFN
El Día de San Patricio se celebra cada 17 de marzo en honor a San Patricio, patrón de Irlanda. Esta festividad, que comenzó como una conmemoración religiosa, ha evolucionado hasta convertirse en un evento mundial en el que se rinde homenaje a la cultura irlandesa. En este día, es común vestir de verde, ver desfiles, disfrutar de música tradicional y participar en actividades festivas relacionadas con la historia y las costumbres de Irlanda.
En el IES San Felipe Neri, no quisimos dejar pasar la oportunidad de sumarnos a esta celebración y aprender más sobre la cultura irlandesa. Nuestros alumnos han trabajado en presentaciones sobre el origen religioso del Día de San Patricio, su historia, su simbología y las formas en que se celebra actualmente en diferentes partes del mundo. También han investigado sobre los bailes típicos irlandeses, explorando la riqueza de su folclore.
Además, hemos dado un paso más allá y hemos cocinado recetas tradicionales irlandesas, descubriendo los sabores de este país a través de su gastronomía.
Como parte de la jornada, organizamos una emocionante Gymkhana en inglés, en la que nuestros alumnos pusieron a prueba sus conocimientos sobre Irlanda y el Día de San Patricio. El equipo rosa claro fue el gran vencedor de la prueba, aunque otros cuatro equipos lograron contestar correctamente a las 8 preguntas. ¡Enhorabuena a todos!
Queremos agradecer a todos los participantes, así como a nuestras auxiliares de conversación y al profesorado que han hecho posible esta actividad. Gracias a ellos, hemos podido vivir un día lleno de aprendizaje, diversión y conexión con la cultura irlandesa.
We Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at SFN ☘️🇮🇪
St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated every March 17th in honor of Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. What started as a religious commemoration has evolved into a worldwide event that pays tribute to Irish culture. On this day, people traditionally wear green, attend parades, enjoy traditional music, and participate in festive activities that highlight Ireland’s rich history and customs.
At IES San Felipe Neri, we couldn’t miss the chance to join this celebration and learn more about Irish culture. Our students worked on presentations about the religious origins of St. Patrick’s Day, its history, symbolism, and how it is celebrated today in different parts of the world. They also explored traditional Irish dances, diving into the country’s vibrant folklore.
We took the experience even further by cooking traditional Irish recipes, discovering the flavors of Ireland through its rich gastronomy.
As part of the event, we organized an exciting English Gymkhana, where our students tested their knowledge about Ireland and St. Patrick’s Day. The light pink team emerged as the big winner, although four other teams also answered all eight questions correctly. Congratulations to everyone!
We would like to thank all the participants, as well as our language assistants and teachers, who made this activity possible. Thanks to them, we had a day full of learning, fun, and cultural connection.
